Two Detroit police officers were found dead in a home in Livonia, Michigan, Sunday in what is believed to be a murder-suicide, police said
The deaths are believed to be a result of a domestic incident, said Detroit Police Chief James White, who provided a brief update to news media at the scene. He called the incident tragic.
Livonia is in Wayne County, about two miles west of the Detroit city limits.
Police were called to the scene about 12:30 p.m. for a welfare check and found a 22-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man dead from apparent gunshot wounds, local outlet WDIV reported.
A baby was in the home during the shooting but was not harmed, the outlet reported. The baby was in the care of a family member on Monday.
Officials declined to name the officers.
Livonia police are conducting the investigation into the deaths.
